Sam Okun Productions is a Film, Financing and Television Production Company specializing in developing a wide range of content from original screenplays to book adaptations. Currently Okun is in production on the family drama "Prisoner's Daughter" directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen) starring Kate Beckinsale, Brian Cox, Tyson Ritter and Ernie Hudson.
Sam’s early productions include a feature film adaptation of the classic Jack London novel: “Call Of The Wild”, "Anya’s Bell” nominated for The Emmy Award and the prestigious Humanities Award; and “She Drives Me Crazy”. Okun produced and directed “The Secret World Of Superfans” a feature documentary which premiered at The International Comic-Con Film Festival; the film explores the phenomenon of extreme fandom and the motivations of “Fantasy Fans” that range from the uncontrollable collector to the compulsively-driven obsessive. The documentary stars an assortment of actors and directors including Academy Award winner Gary Oldman, Malcolm McDowell, John Carpenter and Roger Corman.
Sam Okun has cultivated a reputation as a tireless advocate of book to film adaptations and is currently working with many world renowned best selling authors and novels such as: “Rendezvous In Black” written by famed film-noir great, Cornell Woolrich (also author of the book from which the classic Hitchcock film: “Rear Window” was adapted); the screenplay “The Secret Detectives” is an adaptation of an early Agatha Christie novel; and “Swimming to Atlantis”, another novel set up at Walt Disney Motion Pictures; as well as “Rich Deceiver” being developed with Twentieth Century Studios.
For Television, Okun is developing the novel, “The First Stone” written by John Briley (Academy Award winner of “Best Screenplay” for the film “Gandhi”, which also won the Academy Award for “Best Film”); “The Laura Winslow Mystery Novels”, a seven book crime series published by Harper Collins which Okun and his team are readying as a dramatic series; and “Anatomy of a Scam”, a novel published by Penguin Random House which documents the crimes and corruption of Ricardo Martinelli, the former President of a Panama. Okun also has original projects in development at Paramount Pictures, Netflix and Amazon Studios.
